Social Studies in Kindergarten

The beginning of Kindergarten is the time when students learn how to act and interact at school.

For the first few weeks our main focus in social studies will be learning the classroom and school rules, learning to treat peers and adults respectfully and also treating materials and other people's property respectfully.

After the rules and expectations are established, we will begin to discuss Holidays.  If your child comes home asking about family traditions, don't be surprised!  Every family is special and every tradition is very important to learn and understand why we celebrate the way we do.

We will also introduce historical figures, United States symbols, talk about goods and services, maps, and natural resources.
